The single “Say Goodbye” is set to be released by New York City-based music and art project Love Wins Again on Inauguration Day January 20th 2021.

Jimmy Harned and Leon Evans started working on the song during COVID lockdowns, imagining a life without Trump. “We couldn’t NOT write it” Harned explains. “We started to think about how good it would feel to have that cloud lifted, and then the song kinda wrote itself”. With a big sound boost from top NYC horn players John ‘Scrapper’ Sneider, Andy Farber, and Andrew Williams, the song came into form.

As election Day came and went, and celebrations all over the world spontaneously erupted with the Biden-Harris win, they knew the song matched that vibe. They enlisted a crew that includes veteran editor Jennifer Spenningsby, director Casey Smith, and a throng of street artists, photographers, muralists, and digital visual artists. “Turns out a lot of artistic people were feeling the same way, and they wanted to do something about it.”

“Joy to the Polls” was a major inspiration for the project. The whole idea that you could promote civic engagement and voting with dance music, art and dj parties at polling sites was a wake-up call. “When music enters that space, it comes with joy, love and non-violence, but it also comes with an insistence to ‘have our voices heard’ and to ‘count every vote’.”

Ronald Leon Evans is a songwriter and recording/ performing artist. Originally from Virginia, Leon moved to Brooklyn 10 years ago to pursue a music career. His lifelong devotion to his craft was inspired by prolific and distinguished artists such as Jay-Z, Coldplay, Nas, Jean- Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and many more. The once homeless emcee converts strangers to believers through his stories of struggle and perseverance.

Jimmy Harned is a songwriter, composer and music producer in New York City at New Math Music. Celebration footage was taken from Philadelphia, New York and LA and combined with Leon’s scenes shot at New Math Music in NYC. Mural footage was taken from Chester, PA and New Iberia, Louisiana.
